The Other side of the Road

I was walking my way back home from college after another exam from Hub mall to Goregaon station (east).
Major part of the road to the station is a single lane road and very village like. The roads are broad enough to let just one big truck and a bike pass together. In case of two trucks coming in opposite directions one has to wait till the other driver shows off his driving skills. Most of the road is dug up at the sides in the pretext of putting some cables into the road. Now I don't want to stress on this point and curse the BMC for it..there are plenty of other bloggers doing this job.

The road is a bit difficult to walk on as you have vehicles honking behind your ass often. Most of the times you keep looking back to see whether the horn was of a car, bike or a truck.and since the road is so narrow you would have to be really careful not be kissed by some truck .I realised every 10 seconds i had to look back once to make sure no vehicle would run me over.
After a while I realized how stupid i was being.I just crossed to the other side of the road...and started walking..
Now I had traffic flowing towards me ..and this was much easier..I dint have to worry about some thing unexpected from behind  I could see whats coming to me
All I had to do was walk on the other side of the road and face the traffic head on.. since it is easier to face incoming traffic than walk with traffic in your direction.

This led to some realizations ,

1.We are, most of the times on the wrong side of the right path ..and we complain of the path being wrong.
2.Problems cannot be avoided ..the more you avoid and run away from them the more they are gonna honk into your ears and kick your ass..face them head on and they shall soon pass away.
3.Focus more on  problems of the future (ahead) than problems of the past (behind) ,you'll move a lot faster

Taking the road less traveled (as said by Robert Frost) ..is good but if u have no other route..remember every road has two sides just walk on the other side.

You might be on the wrong side of the right road

If its a bull grab it by its horn
not to run,but to fight you are born

What we Had is What we Want

 When we were kids :

1..We could communicate even without proper words... we had real emotions
2.We had more of hugs..(even from strangers)
3.We shed tears not for what we lost...but for what we wanted
4.We dint have complex emotions like fear,guilt.cheated,complexes...we were either happy or  hungry
5.We didn't care what the world thought about us (dunia kya sochegi)
6.We spoke to ourselves and could do that all day .(When was the last time you did that? )
7.We dreamed and day dreamed...till we were told its a bad habit and we should get serious and real.
8.We had stronger bones( and loads of them)
9.We demanded things and got them ...without negotiating or worrying about putting across the right words.
10.When we laughed everyone laughed with us .
11.When we cried the world responded
12.Silly things weren't stupid...we were allowed to be stupid at times.
13.Didn't have to worry bout dressing sense..everything we wore looked good on us
14.We were encouraged to stare and play with the kid of the opposite sex ,wherever and  whenever and our parents enjoyed it.And later.......(I don't need to talk about this)
15.We had loads of adjectives to our name
16.We had fun filled birthdays even without alcohol
17.We never got drunk but were still on a high
18.We hardly thought about what we didn't have,we loved our toys like hell
19.We concentrated so much on the games we played
20.We were appreciated for every little thing, scolded but loved as soon as we curled our lips
21.We weren't naturally scared of bhoot...until our parents made us scared for their benefit (udar mat ja bhoot hai. And loads of other fears)
22.We weren't scared of the dogs (bhow bhow) till someone told us ..they bite real hard..and have to be kept away ...by shooing them away
23.Preschool scores never mattered ...but then our world revolved around marks and grades [ I don't even remember them now...(after my 12th I forgot my tenth scores),no one asks my twelfth scores now...slowly..I 'll forget one day about my engineering aggregate ..]
24.We didn't care if we were rich or poor
25.We were given gifts ..people came to meet us..all we had to say was thank you ..and not worry about what to give in return
(there  can be more ,but that's all I remember ..do contribute in the comments)

.All people remembered you is for how much you could love, how many smiles you could give, how well you could keep your toys, how well you could remember them (not formulas), how well you could sing and how bad you could dance.

We had the perfect lives as kids..then somehow we lost (we were made to lose) it all..and as we grew older..we are in pursuit of finding those same things again..
Life's weird but this is how it is
reading backwards these are what we die for when we become older..

Our greatest problems and fears are cultivated by ourselves or by our up bringing...if only there was a school to Unlearn (fears, beliefs ,myths ) I would love to be its student.

Sound Vs Light - Words vs Behavior

I had a walk in the morning at about 4 am and the street lights were off. After a while they suddenly switched on and illuminated the whole of Link Road. What happened after its illumination and further rumination of thoughts is what I shall describe ahead.

We all know that for our eyes to be able to see any object, light has to fall on it and has to reflect from the object to our eyes. After the road got illuminated I could see a tall man at a distance. I knew that if he tried to speak to me from there I would not be able to hear him. But trusting my visuals my mind had already made perceptions about him.He was slouched , in tattered clothes and walked in a zig zag manner. So before I could even properly see his face..his body language communicated to me that he was drunk and was poor.

That's all that happened at the road. What happened later really put my mind to work.

I could see the person coz light reflected from him to my eyes. Light travels at 3 X 10^8 m/s .
At the same time sound ,I have read in the 8th standard textbooks ,travels at 340 m/s.
So technically light is 8 x 10^5 times faster than sound..(^ means raised to the power of )
which brought to me to developing this new Philosophy

" What you speak, travels at the speed of sound,
What you seem ,travels at the speed of light"
                                                                        ------© Ram Santosh

Body language suddenly made a lot of sense..
Albert Mehrabian (currently Professor Emeritus of Psychology, UCLA), has become known best by his publications on the relative importance of verbal and nonverbal messages. His findings on inconsistent messages of feelings and attitudes say that

1.Our words comprise of only 7 % of the communication involved
2.Voice tone makes up for 38%   of communication
2.More than 55% communication comprises of gestures, emotions, feelings and attitude.

The simple logic that visuals are much faster than sound is enough to prove to us that people analyze our behavior first and our words later.
So no matter how good and qualified we are with our words if our actions aren't quality ..bad impressions are made..
Ralph Waldo Emerson's line:
"What you do speaks so loudly that I cannot hear what you say" has had a huge impact on me and really made me think if the way I communicate is correct..

No one really cares how much u know until they know how much you care. So treat people well because that is what is seen .It is not only about how you look but about how you maintain a good attitude,a pleasant expression, wear that lovely smile, be warm towards people and be subtle with your gestures. because these travel faster and convey faster to the people than what you speak can convey

Of course good speech is important..but how you communicate non verbally has a larger impact..

So remember that you are seen , observed even before you speak .A good conversationalist or a charmer is one who uses all the forms of communication I.e Verbal, Vocal & Visual. aspects properly

Evolve Please - Be human

I hope Salman Khan doesnt Sue me for using that Title

The following post is a follow up of my previous post Stop Being So Scared. One of my readers took some time for some appreciation and gave me this valuable story, which I thought should be shared with all.
Thank you Janaki.

In Janaki's words :
"I'm glad I do not listen to my Mom all the time, or without even trying, her fears would become mine. It reminds me of that story of keeping monkey's in a cage and keep bananas on top of a ladder...do you know that story?

It was an experiment!A few monkey's were put in a cage and Every time a monkey would try to climb up the ladder to eat a banana, water would be sprayed on other monkeys. Each one of them tried once and they all got irritated of the water. After a while,a new monkey was introduced in the cage and every time the new monkey tried to climb, the others pulled him down because they thought the water would be sprayed, even when it wasn't.

Even when the old monkey's were removed and the only new monkey remained with a newer companion, the new monkey stopped the newer monkey from climbing even without knowing the real reason.

Well! That's our society too!
Those who get scared and ask others to be scared are the monkeys in our lives! So don't be a monkey,be a human! :-) "

Stop Being So Scared

"Have u signed your Journals ? " Screamed Sam (Name changed ..LOL !)
Me: in bewilderment .."why so soon?"
Sam :"dude !  submissions are coming up , they'll screw you if you don't get things signed"
Me : "well my attendance is low they have every right to screw me, but why are you scared ? you've got good attendance"
Sam : (now perplexed).."yea! but I dont know, I'm just scared ,how can you not be its the 'Submissions' "
Me: okay I know its a big thing in an engineers life but what are u scared about? I stil dont get it.
Sam: You need to be serious in life Ram, You should be scared about certain things.
Me: Being Scared makes u Impaired ! ( I had one of my eureka moments after I made up this statement,
for that moment you feel super good about yourself for coming up with something like that  and secretly pat yourself)
Sam left, still thinking  I was a nut and I'm sure he never understood my statement .

There are these Scared Sams everywhere..loitering in college corridors worrying about assignments, midterm exams,Prelim exams, Library cards, Project work, Home work ,Drawing sheets, Classes, Signatures, Grades, phew endless list!
There are similar Scared Sams in workplaces who find something to be scared about at all times.

I just re winded my life and thought about the things that I was scared of , I wondered whether they really matter today..and to my surprise none of the things I was scared about really helped me .Being scared is such a waste of time

Pre-school : I was scared of  Mrs.D'souza (she was a sweet female is what I realized after primary school) coz she used to make huge eye balls at kids who pee in their pants and most of the times her fear is what made them pee. Was the fear worth it?? I could have spent time much better but not worry about how not to pee in class.

Primary school: Scared of Vira teacher ,Scared of the Pranks I couldnt stop playing ,Scared of remarks in the school calender..which would cost us our dear marks . (Today I realize its all my pranks and my remarks that has made my primary schooling life worth re-collecting)

Secondary school : Scared of Desai sir( a wonderful person)..for he used to beat us up for mischief ! Today its fun talking about it. Back then guys where scared when Desai started removing his rings from his right hand fingers and put them into his left hand fingers..(LOL that was his signal ...I'm Angry)!

Then I was scared in the ninth ,coz people told me ninth is tougher than tenth .The Maths chapter SURDS still sends a chill down my spine!

Then came the tenth boards . I was scared for my scores .I thought they really mattered in life!
Whether I'l get a good college or not, whether I'll be able to take up science or not.Family prestige issue..blah blah bullshit

Some teacher had told me I He'll change his name if i got more than 60% and I was shit scared...how would I get admission .what would I tel my friends .??(I ended up geting 80%)

Scared No More!

Junior college- Scared of  doing practicals correctly, attending classes for boards in 12th ,scared of what girls would think of me ( no one even looked at me , but I was stil scared) ..Scared of screwing up in my Boards...I was so scared ...I did screw up..then  I thought it was the end of the world..I could never be an Engineer.. but then Common Entrance Test happened and I scored decent enough to get an Engineering seat

In Engineering people are scared about their scores, grades, impressions, scared of their girlfriends/boyfriends ,scared whether they'll get a high paying job, Scared whether they'll get settled before they marry...damn the list is endless...

Half of our lives are spent in being scared about something...if we are so scared where are we gonna get the time to enjoy simple moments.
We are more afraid of that unseen monster than we are some of the people we let into our lives. The truth is the monster doesn't exist..parents and teachers have always used fear to motivate us to  do better which is so wrong, and now being scared is just another habit.

Its okay to get low scores, its okay to get punished at times..its okay to be surprised but don't be scared
Being scared makes you Impaired- ©Ram Santosh
When  was the last time you did something without being scared ?
Have fun every moment ,be whacky ,sneak out, do something you've never done before
Life's too short to be scared and live with it.

Dare to be not scared and life will be much better!

I remember one of my status updates on Facebook:

Life is race ,true, but you run your own
you decide the Start line n you decide the Finish
you don't Win or Lose till you think you have
For you can lose only when you run somebody else's race!
Competition may be necessary...but Commuting is far more important Run your own race

So dont be scared, be who you are
smile at yourself you're a superstar! -R.A.M

There's Lots In A Name

What's in a name?  That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.
~William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet

Really ???
Well how do you feel when you bump into your school teacher in a bus and she remembers your name ?
How do u feel when your long lost school crush ,who now looks hot ,sees you at a mall and yells out your name.
Or when the DJ announces your name over the Mic..
Everyone's name is extra special to them and its one of those things though belonging to them ,you use it more!

About a couple of months ago I was working on an education project with a finance company and I decided to visit my school for some primary research on regulatory policies of schools.I went after the secondary school timings since I knew the principal would be free then.I reached the gate of the school and suddenly felt as if i was in my half pants again...the school flag fluttering next to the Christmas tree and the peculiar  buzzing sound that a school gives you even when you stand outside it brought back fond memories of people and my life with them.

Amidst my thoughts someone called out " arrey shreeram ,tu yahan kya kar raha hai?" ( meaning, hey shreeram what are u doing here) and i was surprised to hear my school name again coz after school I have always been addressed as Ram . I turned around to see my school peon Narayan .. the fact that he remembered me and my name..almost got me to tears...I still remember holding his fingers with my tiny hands as he led me to my classroom after I had wet my pants in Sr.Kg.. I shook hands with him and I was glad he remembered my name.

I moved to the second floor ,had  a fantastic meeting with my principal Mr.Anthony Fernandes as I took leave I bumped into my primary teacher whom we called 'Jane Teacher' the next instant she had her hands on my ears, twisting them  and said "My god U've changed so much ,how are you?" to which I said" I cant belive you remember me " ."of course I do Mr.Shreeram Santosh"

It is truly said by Dale Carnegie (One of the worlds best writers on human interactions) "Remember that a man’s name is to him the sweetest and most important sound in any language"

Ever since then I made it a point to remember people's names  coz I learned remembering someone's name is like honoring them and respecting them for what they are.and it doesn't take a lot of effort
There have been times when I have got the beer after the bar closure , just because I knew the bartender's name.
The sandwich guy ,Chotu lets me Eat Now-Pay Later ..The watchman greets me every morning with a salam sahab ,just coz i give him a smile and say " good morning shankar " and I tel him hes the only one who calls me sahab before I even have become one .

To end this up I'll end up with one last story
Six months ago there was a fire in my building and our corporator/MLA  Mr.Subhash Desai paid a visit to our society. amidst all the chaos ,the fire fighters the screaming a young lad from my society saw the corporator and said "haila Subhash Desai " to which the smile on his face was endless...he couldn't believe his branding skills were so good that a 6 yr old knew his name.

People love their names,
Waiters would prefer being called by either their own name rather than thapa or raju or ramlal or whistles..start remembering their names and see the kind of service that you get.
Remember that lift man's name and he would run to stop the lift for you to get in
Remember that Peon's name and he would let you know which salt it is in the chemistry practicals even before you start the practicals
Next time instead of just thanx ..say thank you _____(persons name) and see the difference it makes!!

Remembering a name cant get you good grades ,or promotions or fat salary packages but it brings you simple moments of happiness , which integrates to upgrade the lives of others as well as yours.

Your name defines who you are, your attributes, qualities, your preferences ...simply put your name is the super set with which all other memories ,quotes and incidents that are attached to you.
Every Name is special just as life every life is significant..
Take time to celebrate the uniqueness that your name brings you. Call out your name aloud! and see how great you feel about it ...coz Ram Santosh feels awesome when his name is screamed out loud!

And Remember To Remember people's names. It pays. Not in Cash But in Kind -ness.

The Rose Plant - Freedom and Balance

This one is for anybody who is in a relationship with any person on this planet.

We all love stories don't we? The 'Rose Plant' is a story with many deep insights and morals and paradigms.
I've tried to my brains best capacity to coin this story and also some valuable co-relations and morals it has come by.

PART ONE:
A man once got home a Rose Plant. He was very very happy and enthusiastic. He had in his hands one of the most beautiful flower plants in this world. as soon as he held the plant in his hands he was wondering how many roses it can give him and how he can obtain the best of roses. He purchased a very expensive pot for the plant. He sent his servant to get the best possible soil and some fertilizers which would make sure the rose plant gives him healthy roses.he watered the plant every day without fail.he would take care to keep weeds from growing in the pot and even got insecticides to keep insects at bay.
In spite of all this the plant started getting weak and eventually died. He did not know what went wrong. He blamed the soil ,the fertilizers, the water and anything he could. He knew without water the plant would die, without fertilizers he wouldn't get the best yield  and without pesticides some organism might damage the plant. He had missed out on one of the most important ingredients  for growth of the plant 'Sunlight'.

STORY ENDS....

We are all like the man and the Rose Plant can be your son, daughter, friend, student ,girlfriend, boyfriend, husband or wife. We all have expectations right from the time the relationship takes birth..right from the time the child is born the parents have already thought of how they are to bring up the child, the teacher expects great scores from the student, the lover expects never ending understanding from the partner.

PART TWO:
Every aspect of the story has a relation to human needs.Getting good soil for the plant is like getting a good atmosphere for the person to grow.if the soil ain't right or filled with nutrients the growth of the plant is gona be very poor.Unless the atmosphere (home, office, school) aint positive and filled with good values the relationship is going to have a tough time.
The fertilizers to the Rose Plant are like luxuries offered to humans.
They say "Living in the lap of luxury isn't bad, except that you never know when luxury is going to stand up"
Comprises of all material things that we buy or do for the relationship.Like getting the Kid into a good school, buying him all the toys he needs, the PSP's and the Cellphones and sneakers and all that Bling! lovers buy each other stuff hoping that these luxuries are what they ought to do and that's all they have to do to have a great relationship.

The insecticies/pesticides to the Rose Plant ,another important ingredient ,is to provide safety from foreign attacks. For humans its Security and Protection that the relationship can provide. More the pesticides more the security??? not actually, it doesnt work that way .It just spoils the yeild of the plant making it poisonous...so offer too much security and it shall be poisonous.
Most 'Run Aways' and 'Suicides' happen in highly secured homes. where the security is so tight not allowing space to breathe.

Water to the rose plant is like affection and attention without which no relationship can survive. It is a daily need and the foundation for each cell of the plant to thrive.at times you can do without  luxury(fertilizers), without too much security (pesticides) ,but with proper values (soil ) and attention(water) the relationship (plant) can grow beautifully. Most Parents, teachers and lovers often neglect this major daily need and they make up for it with sudden bursts of luxury and security(fertilizers and pesticides -by now ur getting the hook of it arent you) but it doesnt work that way ,nor can u put all the water on just one day wen the kids got good grades (on other days wen hes back from his game u dont even know which game hes soiled his clothes on) On birthdays, children's day and anniversaries the parents, teachers, lovers show sudden affection (too much water) which doesn't help the plant to grow! all it causes is a temporary emotional flood!

After providing all the above one doesn't realize it the most important need of the plant -sunlight-it stands for  freedom, space and society.its like you have all the luxuries, al the protection but no where to go?no people to meet?no views exchanged? no new ideas? i call this slow death..man is a social animal and without society it doesnt matter if hes dead or alive ..let them facebook a bit ,call their friends, meet up old school buddies and share how they are alive

Give your child ,student, lover the much needed freedom, let them bask in the sunshine, water them everyday, provide them with what they need, make them feel secured and I'm sure the flowers are gonna be beautiful and will come forever

Each of the above discussed components is a must for the plants growth..
Make sure all of them are in balanced quantities. The concept of balance is another interesting one.

Too much of freedom can lead to havoc...the plant with only the sunlight can burn to death because of the environment.
Too much of water shall drain the soil of the essential nutrients and make the plant unhealthy
Too much of  pesticides makes the yield poisonous ( hi security breakage running away etc)
Too much of fertilizers make the plant incapable to sustain its growth once the fertilizers are not given, it does not make use of its internal capabilities to absorb nutrients.

Too much of anything is bad for you
be it love ,hate and vitamins too.
Every boon in history has proved to be a bane
Midas' touch or Bruce Almighty's pain.
Too much sunshine or too much rain
If it ain't constructive its all in vain
Don't give too much nor receive
Balance is what you need to achieve

Laws of Physics and Everyday Life - III

(This is the third part of the series Laws of physics and Everyday Life, do read my earlier posts if you wish to know how the earlier laws have been described)

Newtons Third Law:(The last of Newtons laws of Motion)
"To every action there is always an equal and opposite reaction: or the forces of two bodies on each other are always equal and are directed in opposite directions."

It is by far one of the most important laws of physics and  one of the most commonly observed laws ..and its instances are vey visible like the ones stated below:
1.A Bird flaps its wings and pushes the air down and it goes up

2.We are able to swim like we do because of Newton, else we would have pushed the water in the same direction we wanted to swim and...swam backwards!! ( okay I know man learned to swim without knowing the law too, I was just being humorous)

3.Clock wise rotation of the wheels pushes the road which in turn propels the car in forward direction and anticlockwise ( in the reverse gear only) pushes the car backwards

4.Mummy's hand pains after shes hit us...if only she knew these laws correctly..she would have saved herself.(But some of them are still smarter they use instruments like sticks ,hangers, bats and so on and these instruments greatly reduce the force on her hands :( )

The birds flight and the swimming of fishes and octopuses show the law in action!
So basically  the third law defines how we are able to walk, run, slap, press, commute, fly and even jump

The third law I believe corresponds to the Law of Karma "Whatever you do to others - will be done to you" also ' The Cause and Effect Theory' .Its like you slap the wall with terrible force and you end up losing your hand ..what you hit with ,hits you back with it ..I know you may consider this idea a bit lame "what karma? what newton? mad o what?" but I still  believe and shall try to put it to paper someday ( I shall write another article based on this later)

I belive.the laws of science correspond to life ..if you fall of a building terrace ,it doesn't matter whether you are a  good person or a bad person you are going to die.. GRAVITY works all the time

The Law of Conservation of Mass tells us three things :
1.energy can never be created or destroyed
2.it can be converted from one form to the other
3.the total energy in this world at any time is  constant
Its intriguing how the existence of gods can be related to this...gods just appeared and are always there..
in the case of polytheism there are various forms of gods (in case of monotheism the same god assumes different forms ) and then we all say GOD IS ONE .

I hope both Osho and Newton aren't offended by anything I've written so far coz suddenly I feel Im talking  about their dear subjects  'Karma' and ' Motion '

There can be volumes said about the laws of conservation of momentum ,magnetism ,gravity, electricity and our everyday activities but it would be too heavy for this post :) (heavy for me, the writer,I better be specific)

I wish to write much much more but I'm overloaded with the number of consecutive thoughts upon this topic in my head.at the moment .I would say Physics and its laws have real deep relationships with how humans behave( includes their psychological and physiological aspects ). the more we look at the laws from a philosophical paradigm the more life and its problems make sense to us.After all its we who make the problems appear as big or as small as they are. Newtons laws tell us how to get out of the rut,get that momentum going and how to jump as hard as you can so that you can reach as high as you can get in life.
Until next time ..Adios

Laws of Physics and Everyday Life - II

Newtons  Second Law:

A body of mass m subject to a force F undergoes an acceleration a that has the same direction as the force and a magnitude that is directly proportional to the force and inversely proportional to the mass, i.e., F = ma.

Now don't make that ugly face...it simply means no matter what you have within you and how hard you are working if your direction aint right ..your never gonna get the required work done..The keyword of the law is 'direction'.
Here acceleration is the amount of efforts you put in . So the more the mass (the more fatter and dumber you are) more is the acceleration what you require!

Winning in any fight depends upon the force employed by your punches and kicks..your victory depends upon your body mass and your speed of movements and punches generated by acceleration
Lets take Bruce lee for example .. apart from his ripped body his striking speed was his USP  of attack and that had a high acceleration level which gave him the force to win the fights

The amount of productivity of any organization or team also can be related to this law.
as per this law F=mass x acceleration
where F= the collective output of the team/organization
mass is the manpower (the sum of their abilities and talents)
acceleration is the speed, velocity the rapidity with which things are achieved

To sum up the second law is the law for typical hard workers .
1.any object/desire accelerates in the direction that you push it
2.the harder you push the more is the acceleration

So next time you find yourself unable to  get results in any thing that you do  these are a few tips:
1. Lose weight so that the mass is reduced :)
2. Increase the amount of push you are giving to the desired task at hand
and you're bound to succeed !!

Laws of Physics and Everyday Life - I

Okay I know not all of us reading this are certified geeks or scientists from some university but time and again I've realized the importance and the applications of the little things we learned way back in the 8th grade.I spent my time by-hearting them so that I could get good scores in the papers,I thought their applications and co-relations are limited only to science but now I know how much wisdom exists in between these little by -hearted lines.Yes I'm talking about the Laws of Physics

Three of the most Important of laws in physics are the Newtons laws of motion (the guy whose head was hit by an apple ,had it been a coconut tree ,I wouldn't be writing this today -so Thank You Newton!)
Lets see rewind back to school time and then see what the laws can tell us more than the definition.

Law Number One:
First law of motion: An object at rest will remain at rest, and an object in motion will remain in motion, at a constant velocity unless or until outside forces act upon it.

In simple words it means a football will not move on the ground until a force, such as your foot, moves it.
To explain even better once u are used to sitting on the couch it is actually difficult to get up and do some constructive work...so next time mummy screams tel her the law is acting on u and how shes is used to screaming because of the law...(phew once in momentum she just doesn't stop)

Newton has done a fantastic job defining inertia .Inertia is the name for the tendency of an object in motion to remain in motion, or an object at rest to remain at rest, unless acted upon by a force.Everything including human beings need an external force to act on them either to start or stop doing anything without which they get used to the standstill or the motion.

When we are traveling in  an automobile our body goes through sudden jerks because of  the external force acting upon the body bringing it to sudden rest!
Now you know why you have seat belts in your cars! or else because of the motion of the car your moving body will be thrown out of the car when the car suddenly stops!
Some goons use this law to their advantage.. I'm sure women would be well aware of some men who brush upon her while the BEST bus applies sudden brakes ..and when she looks up to him in anger..he blames SCIENCE!

Inertia perfectly denotes why people tend to be lazy! finally a breather...even laziness has a reason...Newton!
So next time you find yourself unable to get something done ,it is not because you don't know how to get it done or because you don't want it to be done its just that you are not applying that extra force to set things in momentum..Once the initial force is applied then the follow up force required is much lesser..

The initial push required is always gonna be greater than the amount of work required to just maintain momentum. Starting anything be it a proposal to a loved one, starting a business, learning to play a game or handling kids  ,its all very tough in the beginning but once you stick along and let the law act.. once the new relationship begins ,the business kick starts and the child learns your ways its gonna be as simple as a eating chocolate mousse ..but not without a slight force called 'efforts' to keep things in momentum .

The F -art of Thinking!

Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking.
         -Albert Einstein

.Not many of us closely observe how and  what we think. Most of us are unaware of our thought processes and why we think in a certain way.We all know that its the thinking that a man does which can shape his life, create differences between good and bad, like or dislike things and people and create or destroy perceptions .

About a couple of days ago I met Paramveer Singh and Prashant (Pav) at The Khadi (to know what  'Khadi' is read my previous blog post). That day something interesting happened which made me aware of my thinking habits.
Param had just come and he was speaking to Prashant..as soon as I greeted Param and the following conversation unfolded:

Param: Hey Ram, I wish you had come a minute earlier i wanted to share something with you which I just shared with pav
Me: Oh what is it? tell me now.
Param: I'll tel u later..had u come a minute earlier I would have let u know.
Me: (asking pav) what is it? tell me
Pav: We'll tel u later
Me: common guys you've invoked my curiosity just tel me!
Pav: wait re baba, wel tel u
Me: is it something special?
Param: hmm....ya it is but its not at the same time..its being special even when its not
Me: I hope u do have something to tell me.
Param: of course dude..there is something.
(5 mins passed)
Me: okay guys at least tel me what is the topic about.
Param: why do u wanna hurry ,we'll tel you when we think its time to.Have patience
Me:I've waited enough now give me the topic
Param: okay if you really wana know we are dealing with 'INDIGESTION'
Me: Now that's weird what on earth do u wanna tell me about Indigestion
Param: its not only for you its for everybody in general.
Me: by any chance do u mean indigestion of words, actions or deeds?
Param: yea sort of!
(After 5 more mins of thinking)
Me: what wrong have I done? have i said something wrong about you ?that i shouldnt have.
Param: why are u thinking so much .we're anyways gona tel you..dont think so much you'll be flirting with schizoprenia someday
(after 10 more mins of making me think)
Pav:okay u really wana listen to what we have to say??
Me:ofcourse
Pav comes closer shakes hands with me and farts.
and both of them smile
Me: That's all??? u had to say?
Param: that's all brother
Me: did u do this on a purpose? I mean do u do this with every person?
Param: there again you're thinking too much my friend.

There are so many things in life that we think to much about when actually there equivalent to just a fart.
I realized how the things that pestered and haunted me so much and sapped my energies into thinking about them weren't that worth...
Humorously these two people made me realize something worthwile.

The trick is in what one emphasizes. We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same.

Why pain is necessary !

I woke up this morning blowing hot air through my mouth, I sighed, I knew I had fever once again.

I asked my sis to do the regular hand on the head experiment and she said ,yes u seem to have very high fever.

I started to feel more ill than the fever made me.

Having fever meant no roaming out for long times ,no dancing for a friends college DJ party, no cold drinks, No junk food, no this and that!!

I reached for the electronic thermometer and stuck it in my mouth a minute later it beeped and it read 103.5!

I thought that's very bad...and I started to feel even worse...these numbers at times make u feel so bad about life. Whether it is marks in school compared with those of Ur friends or whether its number of likes on your facebook statuses.. I wish everything in life had grading systems ...like best, good, okay, bad and ugly.

I went to the doctor and told him give me something which shall flush the fever out of me...to which he replied

“Do you know why you have a fever?"

I said "because I’m probably hit by some virus or bacteria" and felt so good I knew some thing about science!

Doctor said "yes you're right, but fever is not caused by the bacteria or the virus. They are in your body for some other job, and fever is the indicator that something is wrong with your body and tells you about foreign infiltration”

"If you don’t have a fever ,you'll never know your body is under attack ! what fever actually does is it raises the body temperature to such a point where it is difficult for the foreign organisms to sustain in your body and at the same time the white blood cells in your body are increased in number to enable combat against it"

I was amazed at his answer and looking at something like fever through a whole new paradigm eased up my condition a bit. I was no more worried about how ill I am!

I came back home and as I lay on my bed I realized, every discomfort is an indication in disguise.

Without discomforts we would never probably know that something is wrong. Negative emotions and negative experiences often have a message for you, but we often end up focusing on the pain and ignore what it wants us to know

Imagine being cut somewhere on your leg and it never pained..You would never even know and you might bleed to death.

Pain tells you which part of you is weak and needs to be developed

Every person has an aversion to pain. Nobody likes pain but once we realize pain is the innate feedback mechanism which we often ignore the life puzzle will be much easier to solve. We often push around pain not even wondering why it exists.

Example:
A headache indicates your brain has been dehydrated or it lacks oxygen ...so the solution is not to pop in an aspirin and believe it’s gone...hangovers can be cured by drinking loads of water and inhaling fresh air (not smoke)

Every discomfort physical, emotional, social, professional and so on ...has something to tell you...it is trying to scream out something and we often try to stuff its mouth with a quick fix and believe the pain is gone.

If not for pain you would never know something is wrong with your relationship with your body or with somebody!

Pain tells you where you lack and need to improve!

So next time something or someone pains you,

Be thankful, acknowledge and understand the reason why and just move on!!

Dreams On Wheels

"She was a dream ,when I had her I dreamt of something else,
I realized I was living for a dream rather living the Dream itself .
As a teenager she's one of my wildest dreams come true
My First bike,My Yamaha"

I like the sound the winds make
when we're breezing at that speed,
the trees fly by ,everything moves slow
and you make me feel so freed

Many a times I wonder how
my life would have just been,
had I never met you and never felt,
the pleasures we've had since eighteen.

U taught me speed ,how not to greed.
but the fool in me never paid heed
all the times I heard u roar,I wanted more
I'm sorry for the times I made u feel a whore

Many a times in the  past
I've put us through lot a pain
I know I always blame the roads
,the dogs and the stupid rain

I cursed you when u didn't listen to me
it took time for me to realize
that at times you are sick and you need some care
and I need to do more than criticize

You took me through life with all its turns
and you truly helped me grow
For the best journey u need no money
has always been our motto!

You've been with me for five long years
and now i love you even more
thanks for being so good to me
and being faithful to the core

I like the sound the winds make
when we're breezing at that speed,
the trees fly by ,everything moves slow
and you make me feel so freed

The Khadi and the Krowd!

Its one of those places I go and get fascinated, entertained, humoured and lectured every single time I go there..and I go there almost everyday .The khadi has become an addiction for most of its members who turn up regularly apart from being addicted to smoke, tea or narayan's special coffee.
I've heard the withdrawl symptoms of this place are awful. My friends who've shifted from this locality miss this place more than their friends and the first thing they do when they return is " anna ek cutting aur ek cigarette do" to which Narayan Seth/ Anna gives a warm grin and says " tumhara paisa baki tha, abhi toh deke jao ,garib aadmi ko luto mat".
Narayan Seth/Anna writing his Hisaab
U can hate him or love him but narayan seth(the garib aadmi who travels to mangalore and back by flight)  wont do away from his dialogues under any conditions and most of the dialogue sources being south Indian movies. For most people his words are irritating but that's how narayan seth keeps himself humoured.
As narayan comes closer to retirement.he has the perfect successor in his son Prakash ,who is another interesting character, always dressed neatly ,at times even wears sunglasses if its afternoon..in years to come don't be surprised if you see Nityanand Smoke lounge at that place and Prakash standing in a blazer to greet you.
Daily greetings hold an important place in prakash's life. There are more than hundred people who wish him good morning/afternoon/night in a day. Most of the times he shall look at the digital red clock before so that he does not mistake between good morning and afternoon.Prakash is one sincere hard working fellow.both father and son team up to do good business and have maintained relationships with people for the past so many years and both make awesome Coffee.
At times the service is super slow..and u dont even get free stuff for their delay,at times the tea is sugar water n at times its drinkable, but no one really cares they still come back to this place every single day because there is something about the ambiance of this place, its people ,the vibes and the variety they give you.
The best part of The Khadi is the Krowd that comes here..each member of the khadi may be acquainted with an average of at least twenty to twenty five people. There is no membership fees but every member does pay a price to come here..
We use terms like "khoon mang na" no its not a movie tittle but it means, to suck of someones blood till hes gets unconscious I.e talking someone to boredom or irritating to the maximum..so someday you are the vampire and sometimes u are the victim...and that's the only price we pay. There is no membership fee.
People from all age groups, intellectual levels, professions, all social statuses and colour turn up at The Khadi every single day and that according to me is the best part. Some conversations are interesting and u learn a lot and at times u have a laugh riot and one has the power to choose what he needs to listen to..there are 10 different sets of people talking about ten different things and one is free to join in/interrupt/comment in any of those..at times you take centre stage and speak to a bunch of idiots who know nothing about what youre  talking about..and you get this feel good factor of knowing much more than the common man,and at times you are made to feel the idiot by somebody else.

Most commonly discussed subjects are cars n bikes, India Tv,  Verbal Goof ups, Politics, Sports,  Bussiness, Emotions ,Sex ,Girlfriend ,Cities Gymming and Physical fitness ..if u observe ,all the pages of a newspaper or  a popular News channel have been covered. The Khadi is the one stop shop for all the news/bakwas u can get..
All important festivals like Holi,Diwali,Newyear and even personal milestones like gettin a job or celebrating a birthday is done at the Khadi! with everyone together!
At times the ambiance is disturbed by the local Police Men (fondly called as Pandu) but now we're used to them and they're used to us!!

I had once written a facebook status message based on this place which had recieved a lot of comments which i shall paste here:
" Life today is...conversations with someone intelligent and also someone dumb,
you get al sorts of people in god's kingdom,
for without a loser how wud u know u wer better
and without someone bigger how do find your trigger"

This place truly helps keep things in perspective.you get to see examples of successes and failures and how they have bounced back.
To conclude I would  say that The Khadi is the place where you see Men lying to their wives that they'll be late home just to spend some more time at The Khadi , boys somehow take time off their girlfriends and make it a point to meet the Krowd!!

Now I guess ive written too much and i need a break ...over to the Khadi!!

Whats On My Mind !

" The vast majority of humans know not the existence of the mind and its operations. Even the so-called educated persons know very little of the mind subjectively or of its nature and operations. They have only heard of a mind.  "
  ---Swami Sivananda

Thanks to Facebook for it asks me everyday "Whats on my mind? ", reminding me time and again that I have one ,else I would have hardly payed conscious attention to whats going on inside it!
I'm not a writer yet nor I'm an expert in some field/skill but I feel what I write often makes sense to me and to some others as well (Thank You guys!)

Yesterday I happened to read a page of my old diary (written only at certain times when you're having a bad time and people don't seem to understand) and was amazed and amused at how life has changed since then. My emotions, perceptions, beliefs and actions have undergone considerable transformation .
It is because of the events, people, few books and the circumstances to which I have been exposed.
I take immense pride in the fact that my life has changed for the better because my past is now giving me many reasons to smile. So I thought I should write on things which might remind me of the times and also entertain and bring a smile on the face of the reader.

Okay now don't worry this blog is not about my biography , You wouldn't want to read it as yet but hopefully someday you shall.
This shall be about thoughts, people, places and some incidents that occur in my world translated into prose!

I still don't have enough reasons why you should read my blog...but something urges me to write one!.
Lets hope I write something you'd relate to.
